Did you know that 15% of your heat could be lost through draughty windows and doors?
One solution to cut out the draughts is thermal curtains. If fitted correctly over windows and doors, they can help to reduce heat loss by up to 15-17%. However, thermally lined curtains can be expensive and are not always accessible to everyone.
In an attempt to make this energy saving measure more accessible, 361 Energy are trialling a new service called the The Curtain Bank.
Funded by Western Power, the aim of the service is to take surplus curtains that are donated by people who don’t need them any more. We’ll work with a team of expert volunteers to alter the donated curtains and get them fitted in a household who needs them.
With your help and donations, we aim to provide curtains and draught excluders to those most vulnerable households across North Devon.
Could you spare some time to be involved with our Curtain Bank?
We are looking for:
- People with curtains to donate (big or small, we’ll take all sizes).
- People with sewing experience who might be able to help us alter one or two pairs of curtains (all materials will be provided).
- Volunteers who can help our home energy advice team fit the curtains.
Even just one pair of curtains can make a huge positive impact to somebody else. If you have the skills or resources and would like to make a difference, please contact us on 01271 599361, or email info@361energy.org.
