Save money on your Energy Bills with the Big Energy Saving Network

From now until March 2018, we have funding from the Big Energy Saving Network to help local residents save money on their energy bills.  This will enable us to help people switch to cheaper energy suppliers or tariffs and claim the Warm Home Discount.  Among our partners in the project are North Devon Homes, North Devon Council, One Ilfracombe, Scribes CIC and the Litchdon Medical Centre.

Many people have rarely if ever changed their energy supplier and are on the more expensive standard variable rate tariff.  Typically we have found that residents can save around £200 by switching supplier, tariff and/or payment method.  We will also be signing up those who are eligible (typically the elderly and disabled) to the Priority Service Register and investigating other ways we can help residents such as energy debt write off or funding to replace broken gas boilers.  We will be also giving training sessions to front-line workers on how residents can reduce their energy bills.

The 361 Energy team working on the project will include Nicola Corrigan, Gwen de Groot and Tara Bowers.  In 2016 we engaged with 255 local residents and trained 109 front line workers.  We are delighted to have been awarded this funding from National Energy Action.  This will help us continue to fund the 361 Empower service, offering free home visits to local residents as well as energy advice clinics.  Dates and locations of the clinics will be announced in the coming weeks.
